Meet the Founders

Christine Marble, B.A., RID: CI/CT
Executive Director

Christine (Chris) received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1989 and an A.A.S. from St. Paul College, Interpreter/Transliterator Program in 1997. She is a founder of Career Ventures, Inc. (“CVI”) and a former co-founder of Employment Endeavors, LLC. She is a nationally certified sign language interpreter and worked at the Minnesota Employment Center as a job coach (OCS) and Statewide Resource Specialist. Chris has also worked as a freelance interpreter, video relay interpreter and as an adjunct faculty member of St. Paul College where she taught classes on video relay interpreting, working as an Occupational Communication Specialist, (OCS), and Voice to Sign Interpreting. Chris additionally served on a national task force which plans to develop a best practices manual for OCSes. She has provided presentations at the national level on a variety of employment related topics. Currently, she serves as a member on the MN Employment Task Force Committee that is overseen by the MN Commission of Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing Minnesotans.

Wendy DeVore, B.S., RID: CI/CT, NAD: V
Organization Executive

Wendy received a B.S. in Sociology from Augsburg College in 1995. She is a Child of a Deaf Adult and is a native signer of American Sign Language. Wendy is a co-founder of Career Ventures, Inc. and a former owner of Employment Endeavors, LLC. She served as the Organization Executive and CARF Administrator for Employment Endeavors, LLC., a role she continues with Career Ventures, Inc. She is a nationally certified interpreter and has been interpreting professionally for over 20 years. She is a former sworn Minneapolis Police Officer and Crime Prevention Specialist. She founded Deaf SAFE, a crime prevention and safety outreach program for people who are Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing and DeafBlind. Wendy continues to provide Deaf and DeafBlind Culture and Hard-of-Hearing awareness trainings to law enforcement personnel. She also worked as a job coach at the Lexington Center for the Deaf located in Queens, New York and served as the former Program Coordinator at the Minnesota Employment Center for People who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing (MEC) located in St. Paul, MN. Wendy is a former adjunct faculty member at St. Paul College in the Sign Language Interpreter Training Program. Currently, she serves as a member on the MN Employment Task Force Committee that is overseen by the MN Commission of Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing Minnesotans.

 

CVI History

In 2005, Chris Marble co-founded Employment Endeavors, LLC, a company that assists individuals who are Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, Low Vision and Blind in obtaining employment. Chris served as the Executive Director for seven and a half years. In 2007, Wendy DeVore joined Employment Endeavors, LLC. and served as the Organization Executive. With the desire to expand customer program services and to pursue larger organizational growth, Chris and Wendy left Employment Endeavorson June 1, 2012 to found Career Ventures, Inc.

Chris and Wendy bring to Career Ventures, Inc. their combined experience and success as business leaders and owners as well as their continued passion in serving individuals who are Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, Low Vision and Blind. Integral to the success of any company lies within the caliber of the staff. You will find each CVI staff team member driven by: integrity, professionalism, talent, compassion and a strong sense of dedication to the customers they serve. We at CVI take pride in the rich diversity of staff members and draw upon each other’s strengths and experiences.

CVI is located in the Griggs Midway Building in St. Paul, MN. We have 2 offices within this building; the main administrative office and the Transition Hub program. CVI serves individuals within the Metro area and statewide throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. The age ranges of people we serve are Transition students, 16-21, and traditional adults, 18-65.

Because CVI believes in excellence and quality of service, CVI has submitted their Intent for Survey to CARF (Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and will be scheduled for a survey in the early part of 2013. We at CVI work daily with great anticipation and enthusiasm in serving our customers, partnering agencies and business communities.
